Welcome Sienna Layne!

Sienna Layne Bernhardt-Peterson was born August 30th at 6:52 am. Mommy started having contractions on Saturday night at 11pm. Because she had such a quick labor with Finley, Dr. Noll told her to call right away when contractions started. Cam, Cassie and Grandma Brenda went into the hospital around 1am and spent about 5 hours wishing and hoping that the contractions would get moving and Mommy would dilate. Since that didn't happen, we were sent home early Sunday morning. Mommy slept most of Sunday away with a few irregular contractions. After Grandma and Grandpa left for home, the contractions started to get painful and the task of putting a nervous Finley to bed was proving to be perhaps more difficult than the labor. After Mommy had a minor breakdown at about 10:30 pm, Grandma and Grandpa showed up again. Once again, Grandma, Mommy, and Daddy went to the hospital around 2 am. Mommy was only dilated to 2 cm and was trying to make it through some pretty hefty contractions, so, naturally, Daddy took a 3 hour nap! Grandma Brenda was a great coach but Mommy couldn't take it much longer. She got some morphine to help let her get some sleep and, although the contractions still hurt, she was able to sleep a little bit. Around 4:30, Mom's water broke and the nurse came into check her progress. Mommy was pretty disappointed to find she was only 8 cm because she felt like she had to push. While Grandma and the nurses scrambled, Mommy couldn't help it! She had to get this baby out! Even though she REALLY wanted to have an epidural, she didn't have time, so Mommy bore down and gave a really good push. Out came the head - even though there was no doctor there. One more push and out she came, clean as a whistle. Dr. Noll showed up about a half an hour after she was born, disappointed that she missed it. Sienna weighs 7 pounds 9 ounces and is 20 inches long. She has big feet and long fingers and a perfectly round head with short, dark hair. She is very calm and quiet and has slept almost all the day. Finley is very glad to be a big sister, even though she was not too excited to come to the hospital and hasn't gone near her Mommy. So far, Sienna has had visits from Grandma Julie, who brought beautiful flowers. Auntie Annie and Uncle Luke, who missed out on the hospital experience with Finley, brought a lovely, soft blankie. Auntie Megan will be here later. We are all doing well and can't wait for everyone else to meet her! We are blessed!

Megan's Birthday Celebration

For Megan's 34th birthday, we had lots of family fun. First, the family went to eat at "Bamfire" where Grandpa helped Finley make her ice cream sundae. She was very careful about putting the sprinkles on her ice cream. She would eat off a layer, then sprinkle some more. The next night, we all went bowling. Finley met her future husband, Kellan, while throwing her first rocks. The two were inseparable and totally adorable. He even tried to open the door for her!

Josh and Jill's Summer Visit

Last weekend, Josh and Jill got to visit and see our new house. They were able to enjoy the frogs, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and more with Finley. It was very fun. Mommy even tried to go into labor, but didn't quite make it work!

Just Waiting Around

Finley and Mommy have been waiting patiently for the arrival of Baby Brother or Sister. We've gone to the pool (when the sun has been shining), gone to the library, gone to the shoe store, played in our lovely new basement, gone to Finley's park, rode bike in the garage, played with Daddy's new toy (the mower), spent time with Sadie, helped the cupboard lady with our new cupboards, and painted Mommy and Daddy's bathroom. All of this activity, unfortunately, is not making the baby come any quicker, though! Finley reminds me daily that my "tummy is fat!" It definitely is!
