Recent Adventures

Our summer has been filled with fun in the last week or so now that we are moved and fairly settled into our new house. Finley loves driving by the VonHanson's Hot Dog Truck so we stopped to check it out. We also picked up some lovely steaks for a grill-out with Auntie Annie and Uncle Luke.
Finley has also been working on getting rewards for some things she has been struggling with as of late - going to the bathroom by herself, eating, and sleeping. As a reward one day, she got to help me bake sugar cookies with sprinkles. As you can see, she didn't hold back on the sprinkles.
Finley also got to see Mommy's college roommate, Dr. Sara Nikravan, who was in town for a wedding. Sara is getting married in October so Finley was very interested in the details. She asked me to tell her the story of Sara Nikravan's wedding when we got home so I told her we were going to "dance our pants off." Finley said, "You're going to dance naked?"

God versus Jesus

As you may or may not know, Finley is very scared of thunder storms so I tried to explain to her why we have to have them. I told her that God sends the rain because the earth doesn't have a house with air conditioning and it gets hot and thirsty. He sends the thunder and lightning to remind us that we need to grab our umbrellas before we go outside in the rain.

On Sunday, we were getting ready for church and I told Finley she had to get dressed so we could go. She said she didn't want to go to church so I asked her why. She said she didn't want to go because God sends the thunder and lightning and she didn't like it. Cam told her that he also sends the sun and the rainbows and stuff and she told him, "No, Jesus sends that."

Again, Naughty Daddy!

Finley got in the car to go to the pool today and thought her carseat was broken. She said, "Daddy can fix it. He's a nice guy. Except sometimes he's naughty. Like when he says 'stupid'...or 'dannit'...or 'fu@#ing'" She also told me yesterday that Daddy says naughty words when he's watching the Twins. I didn't argue with her either time.

Finley's Names for the Baby

Finley and I were laying in her bed the other day for naptime. Before laying down, Finley had found her crosses that she got as gifts for her baptism. To get her to relax, I told her the story of her baptism - if any of you remember it, it makes for a really relaxing story ;) As usual, this was a long process and Finley had finally settled down, stopped rolling around and asking for milky, etc. I thought she had drifted off when she said, "I know a name for our new baby, Mommy. Jesus...or Curtain...or Poop." Then, she rolled over and fell asleep. Obviously, the Jesus part came from the baptism story but as for the rest, I can only blame her Dad and Auntie Megan.

Finley's Park

Finley has a lovely park right across the street that she thinks we own with our new house. It gives us a lovely view of our beautiful home and has a baseball field for Cam and Josh. When we played there last night, both Cam and I were so excited for Finley to basically have the space of a farm right in the city. We truly were blessed to have that first house fall through because this house has more than we knew we could have wanted.

Finley's New House

It has been such a long time since last blogging because we have been busy bees moving into our new house. We love it soooooo much! Finley has been so busy playing with all her toys that were in storage, going to her new park across the street, and enjoying her new bedroom. She is such a worker that, of course, she has had to help with every step along the way. She has painted walls (with water, of course!), swept and mopped our nice, big kitchen/dining room, and vacuumed the living room many times. Since we now live in the middle of nature, she has commented often on the "birds" she hears in our chimney. These "birds" are really bats - but we haven't told her that yet! She's not so sure about all the spiders and she's been eaten alive by the mosquitos, but she has also enjoyed looking at the hawks ("cocks"), hummingbirds, rabbits, gophers, squirrels, flowers, and butterflies in our yard. She is going to have so much fun growing up here and playing with her brother or sister in all these gorgeous surroundings - and we will have so much fun watching them!
